Disaster Medicine Civil Military Committee

The Disaster Medicine Civil-Military Committee (DMCMC) is an international medical body established in Naples as a result of the findings and recommendations of the international Conference Civil Military Cooperation Enhancing Combat Trauma System and Disaster Medicine Capabilities, held in Naples September 2012. Under the auspices of the Italian Armed Forces Surgeon General and Directives and Guidance of the Health Commander and Director, Logistics Command for Southern Italy, Naples, the NATO Joint Force Command Headquarters, Naples Medical Advisor, the US Naval Hospital,Naples Commanding Officer and US AFRICOM and EUCOM Navy Surgeon General, A. O. R. N “A. Cardarelli”, Naples, Chief Trauma Centre,  Ospedale Niguarda Ca’Granda, Milan, Chief Trauma Centre, Ospedale Maggiore Bologna Chief Trauma Centre and the Second University of Naples, Medical Faculty Dean, the DMCMC was established December 2012.

The main objective of the DMCMC is to promote Disaster Medicine preparedness and readiness through enhancing civilian and military medical specialists theoretical knowledge and practical skills to organize, manage and execute effective and efficient medical support in case of man-made and natural disasters. DMCMC also aims at contributing to the population and rescue teams medical education and training. DMCMC objective is to create an operational liaison with disaster medical management and support focused national, international state and nongovernmental organizations for achieving better education and practical training in order to assure rapid and sufficient medical response to the disasters’ challenges worldwide.

The structure of the DMCMC is into two main bodies:
